No matter how careful we may be, and what precautions we take – accidents happen.

If you’ve been hurt or injured at work, here are some important suggestions:

1. Seek medical attention as soon as possible; and
2. Contact one of our lawyers.

Keep accurate and current information in writing. This includes taking notes of phone calls (with dates and times and who you have been talking to). Keep copies of all documents that you send to WorksafeBC. Note when and how information and documents are sent to WorksafeBC (registered mail, fax, etc.).

It is your claim, and what happens is very important to you, so stay focussed on your case and do not be distracted by WorksafeBC service providers.

When you are dealing with WorksafeBC ( WCB ), be assertive but do not lose your temper. Having a member of our legal team go with you to a meeting can help you stay calm and keep WorsafeBC agents focused on your needs and not WorksafeBC budgets.  If you find yourself losing your temper on the phone with WorksafeBC, call our office and we will take care of your needs.

Worksafe BC ( WCB ) wants to cut off benefits and send you back to work.

In 2012 WorksafeBC paid its unionized employees a bonus of approximately $1,400.00 for the cost savings realized from lower compensation payments.

When dealing with WorksafeBC you need to be aware that there may be substantial incentives for the WorksafeBC case manager to reduce or cut benefits as early as possible. Confronting and standing up to these motivated case managers is best done when the injured worker has a lawyer speaking on their behalf.
